June’s Cornwall Social Media Cafe (#CSMC) will be held on Tuesday June 16 from 6.30pm at Vertigo Bar in Truro, we’re delighted to be joined by Nigel Ashcroft, Director of NGA (Next Generation Access) for Cornwall and colleague and NGA Development Manager, Julian Cowans.

Nigel led the the Objective One actnow project, which helped more than 10,000 businesses to make the most of broadband and is now at the helm of delivering the next next level of broadband infrastructure, referred to as ‘Next Generation Access.'

The next stage of the project, which is being led through Cornwall Council, wants to secure a private sector investor to to take Cornwall to the next level of broadband connectivity.

The event will be a great opportunity to learn more about the future of broadband in the county and Nigel and Julian will be happy to answer individual questions about how NGA will affect Cornwall and what speeds of broadband the county should really expect.

So if you want to know exactly how NGA plans to place “Cornwall at the cutting edge of broadband infrastructure and open a new world of opportunity” or what role The Convergence Programme (2007-2013) will play in NGA with its pledge to put the digital infrastructure of Cornwall at the heart of the programme make sure you sign up and send through any questions you’ve got prior to the event.

The structure of the evening will follow a similar format to last month and it is for this reason why we have chosen to have the event at Vertigo again. We had some great feedback on the venue and felt it worked really well to use the separate upstairs room for the dicussion.

Aren and I also want to stress that the Q & A session isn’t a complusary part of the evening and only those who want to partake should. The evening will be split with informal networking followed by the Q & A session with Nigel and Julian.

Looking ahead to next month we’re keen to give spread our wings and plan to hold an informal networking event in Falmouth.
